Pre-Dance A (3-4 yrs. old) Pre-Dance B (4-5 yrs. old) These classes are an introduction to dance for 3-5yr olds. Our Pre-Dance students will be introduced
to ballet, tap and jazz as well as focus on creative dance and improvisational movement. If you have a budding little
dancer, this is the place to get started. Creativity of movement and continued advancement toward the Basic Dance classes
is emphasized.
Basic Dance A (6-7 yrs. old)
Basic Dance B (7-8 yrs. old) Basic Dance takes all of the goals of Pre-Dance and takes them to the next step. Basic Dance
students continue learning ballet, tap and jazz and work to advance into the higher techqnique class levels. Basic Dance
is a wonderful combination class for our 6-8yr old students.
Boys Jazz/ Hip Hop (ages 6 and up) Pop, lock and jam
your way to Hip Hop fun. This class is only for boys who like to move! Come enjoy Hip Hop dancing with the "homies."
Hip Hop I (ages
6-12)
Hip Hop II (ages
7-13) If you like to dance like your favorite recording
star, this is the class for you! The latest Hip Hop moves are taught with appropriate moves and music for this age group.
Pop and lock to Hip Hop fun!
Hip Hop Teens (ages 13 and up) Adult Hip
Hop Hey, all you teens and adults out there
that enjoy dancing like the stars on TV and music videos, this is the class for you! Our Hip Hop teens class or adult
class is great for the dancer with not a lot of experience or, the trained dancer wanting to learn to street dance.

What is the difference between Jazz and Hip Hop?
Jazz style of dance is what is seen in many Broadway type shows such as “Cats”.
It is a more structured, stage style of dance. Hip Hop is a fast, high energy type of dance seen in music videos and
commercials. Dance moves seen in performance by artists such as Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and J Lo would be typical
examples of Hip Hop.
Jazz/Tap grade 1-2 (ages 6-9) Jazz/Tap grade 3-4 (ages 8-12)
This exciting combination Jazz/Tap class is a great class for our Basic Dance
students to progress into. More advanced skills are taught, and when this class is added with a ballet class, it becomes
a powerful tool in developing the multi-skilled dancer.
Jazz Grade 5-6 Jazz Grade 7-8 Jazz
Grade 9-12 If you love jazz, we have the class
for you. An important factor of jazz is expression, and our teachers work to help our students express themselves
the best they can through this popular dance style.

Grade 9-12 There aren't many dance styles quite
as fun as tap dancing! Every since Gene Kelly graced the silver screen, tap dancing has been one of the most popular
styles of dance.
Ballet Grade 1-2 & 3-4 Ballet Grade 4-6 & 5-6 Ballet Grade 7-8 & 9-12 As
an aspiring dancer, ballet is one of the most important classes you can take. All other dances have roots in ballet.
Our ballet teachers at Melody Lane are well trained in proper teaching techniques to assist students in their progression
toward pointe and other higher ballet methods. Barre and center work are focused on each day.

dance is growing rapidly at our studio. As students try it, they absolutely love it. So what is Modern dance?
Modern dance is a style of theatrical dance that favors movement deriving from the expression of inner feeling.
Dancers love the movement and emotional freedom it provides. Plus, it is just a lot of fun! Once you try it, you
will love it!
Jr. Drill/Cheer (ages 6-9)
Drill/Cheer (ages 10-15)
Every girl wants to be able to perform one day with her high school drill team
or cheer squad. These classes are designed to help her do just that. Most of the girls that take Drill/Cheer at
Melody Lane end up making the squads at their schools. It is just great preparation. Plus, the girls get
to perform during some high school half-time basketball games in January and February! It's a blast!
Drama I (ages 8-13) Drama for Teens (ages 13
and up)

Lights! Curtain!
Drama! Our drama classes are a wonderful way for students to express themselves, learn to act and gain self-esteem.
Improvisation, pantomime and theater skills are taught as well as plays performed. Musical Theatre classes also available.

Elementary Music and Drama (ages 6-8)
These are two fun new classes that combine the teaching of basic music theory
with drama. Rhythm, pitch and singing will be emphasized with opportunities for acting short plays, nursery rhymes and
poems. Your young student will have fun being introduced to music and drama in a loving, safe and creative environment.
The Melody Lane Singers (ages 6-13) The Melody Lane Singers Teen Group (ages 14-18) Yakima's premier children's performing group, The Melody Lane Singers,
combines the art of singing and staged choreography in a 30 minute show designed to perform for the public. Broadway,
decade music and American hits are practiced each week for a high energy show that has delighted audiences for over 25 years.

Beginning Instrumental lessons
(ages
9 to adult)
Sign up for a group instrumental class and learn the beginnings of piano and guitar! These classes are divided into 8-week sessions and are a great starting point for any instrumental student. Ages 9 to adult. Come learn piano or guitar in this fun, low pressure classroom atmosphere. Private lessons are also available!
